The Military Academy at West Point has a student body of 4,600 and a student to teacher ratio of 8:1. The school was established by act of Congress back in 1802 and currently serves undergraduate students. Today, this is the oldest and the most prestigious federal service academies in the nation. The 4 year program graduates receive a degree and upon their graduation, they are awarded the United States Army commissions as 2nd lieutenants.
Since it was formed, the military school as had a primary goal of preparing cadets to take up leadership roles in the US Army. Consequently, students are required to be both mentally and physically upright throughout the duration of their courses.

What to Expect
The admission process is strict but there are always more students applying to the Military Academy at West Point than there is room. There is no attendance cost since the expenses are covered by the US government. The students in the military school receive payment equal to that of enlisted ranks until the time of their graduation. Students have a wide range of courses to choose from among them Military engineering, English and mathematical science.
