The La Salle Institute is a private Catholic military school situated in New York. It operates as an all-male college preparatory educational institution. Today, the school serves students in grades 6 to 12. It has an enrolment of more than 400 students with a teacher to student ratio of 1:12. Unlike average private schools, annually, there are 180 days of classes. The classes last for approximately 6 hours per day.
La Salle Institute has a mandatory requirement for students to join the JROTC program. This is aimed at motivating the students to become good citizens rather than preparing them to join the army. The JROTC program has received the ‘Honor Unit with Distinction’ from the United States Department of the Army.
The military school takes athletics seriously and students are actively engaged in interscholastic baseball, basketball, cross country, bowling and golf among other activities. In additional to traditional classes, the school offers general and accelerated learning, advanced studies and honors level. La Salle Institute has an accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
What to Expect
Due to the fact that La Salle Institute is run by a religious organization, there are numerous religious activities most of which make the school’s tradition. The high school students are required to join the JROTC program.
