Christian Brothers Academy started in 1854 as a boys’ orphanage. It then became a boarding school for boys and by 1892; it was already a military school. The school has changed over the years but its high academic standards have always remained the same. The school serves boys in grades 6 to 12.

The Christian Brothers Academy is best known for its heavy emphasis on the military style leadership as well as academic excellence. The school further excels in athletics and its basketball team has won many championships. The military school emphasizes on teamwork, self-discipline and sportsmanship.

The school has an accreditation through Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools as well as the New York Board of Regents. The Christian Brothers Academy is also recognized by the US Department of the Army for its JROTC program.
